Kristallwelten Wattens, a Swarovski crystal-themed museum, is nestled within the lush greenery of the Austrian mountains. The museum, which was created to mark Swarovski’s 100 year anniversary, begins with a crouching giant’s head, before opening into a world of crystal-themed exhibits. Inside, visitors are able to see exhibits designed by famous artists or fashion designers.
Alexander McQueen designed a crystal tree for the ’Silent Light’ exhibit, whilst celebrated Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama crafted a representation of the sun using Swarovski crystals. It includes Swarovski encrusted outfits worn by Elton John and Lady Gaga, along with a leotard owned by Olympic gold-medallist Simone Biles. ‘The Art of Performance’ room ‘celebrates Swarovski’s long standing relationship with Hollywood ’s top entertainers and creatives’.
