SUGAR GROVE – What a way to break a new baseball field in.The Rockets christened their new turf baseball field with a walk-off win in the bottom of the seventh when Ethin Redinger put the ball in play to allow the winning run to cross the plate in a 4-3 nonconference win over Rittman.The Rockets jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, but Rittman scored single runs in the second, third, and fourth innings to tie it before the Rockets won in dramatic fashion in the seventh inning.

William Bolton went 2 for 4, including three stolen bases and two runs, Cam Brown had two hits and an RBI, Clayton Moore had a hit and Colton Moore scored a run.Jeremy Hartmann pitched two-plus innings, giving up two earned runs and striking out four, Clayton Moore pitched three-plus innings, giving up one run and striking out seven, and Redinger pitched one inning.Berne Union coach Chad Cupp cut the ribbon for the first game on the field, and he was joined by school board members Todd Hintz, Johnny Garber, Amy Oxley, and Dustin Wharton.



Berne Union baseball alum and Hall of Fame member Jeff Solenbarger threw out the first pitch.
