Zoolander and Night at the Museum star Ben Stiller comes from a show business family himself – his parents Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara were a hugely successful comedy duo in the 1960s – but he's uneasy about the idea of his own kids following him into Hollywood . Ben told the Hollywood Reporter that his daughter Ella, 22, and his 19-year-old son Quinlin, have expressed an interest in becoming actors themselves. But while he supports his kids' ambitions, he's also a little anxious about what a "tough" and unforgiving business they're going into.
"I recognise their talent and their desire to do it, and I support it a hundred percent," he says. However Ben says he has mixed emotions about their plans: "I also know it's a tough business, and as a protective parent, you don't want your kids to have to suffer the slings and arrows." He adds that Quinlin and Ella's ambitions represent a kind of endorsement of him as a parent: "I'm glad that for all of the things that I did wrong as a parent or being too caught up in my work, it's not like they were like, 'I don't want anything to do with this.
' " Ben himself is still hard at work in Hollywood, moving behind the camera for the cult Apple TV series Severance , which has picked up two Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Directing in a Drama Series.
