On the latest episode of “ The King of Mask Singer ,” the identity of “Spring Roll” was revealed! During the March 30 broadcast of the MBC singing competition, eight new contestants stepped up to challenge the reigning champion for the throne. In the third match-up of Round 1, “Spring Roll” and “Shinseollo” faced off with a duet version of Noel’s Jeon Woo Sung’s famous ballad “What If.” After watching their performance, several of the celebrity panelists speculated that Spring Roll might be an idol, while Lee Hyun Yi suggested that he might be a model.

In order to provide a clue to his identity, Spring Roll showcased his impressive jumping skills, wowing the crowd with a skillful vertical jump as he landed on a block about 1.1 meters tall. Multiple panelists then guessed that Spring Roll was an athlete or a former athlete-turned-idol like WEi’s Kim Yo Han (who was once a taekwondo athlete before debuting as a singer).



Although Spring Roll earned praise for his charming vocal tone, he ultimately lost the round to his opponent. Spring Roll went on to perform a cover of Geeks’ “Officially Missing You,” taking off his mask halfway through to reveal his identity. The high-flying masked singer turned out to be Chael, a member of Fantagio’s rookie boy group LUN8.

Host Kim Sung Joo then explained why Chael had chosen to do a vertical jump earlier: before debuting as an idol in 2023, Chael used to be a volleyball player. “I started playing volleybal.
