One young American Idol contestant's original song may have just earned her one of the biggest compliments in the industry. During the Sunday taping of American Idol, 17-year-old Zaylie Windsor took the stage with her original song The Used, a tear-dropping track about finding yourself after heartbreak . Though her performance sparked mixed reviews from the judges, it was Carrie Underwood ’s defense of the singer that set social media ablaze.

Kim Kardashian speaks out on Kanye West’s ‘disturbing’ X rant and is ‘staying far away’ Inside Karla Sofía Gascón’s $30,000 journey to become a transgender woman unveiled “She doesn’t have this giant vibrato, belty voice,” Underwood said. “but there’s something in there. If she wrote that at 14, she must have a lot of other things in her arsenal.

” Underwood did not stop quite there. “There’s a Taylor Swift -esque quality that she has,” she added, explaining why she was willing to “roll the dice” on Windsor. Judge Luke Bryan initially disagreed, saying the song “sounded like a 14-year-old level of song” and voted no.

After a back-and-forth with Underwood and Windsor’s persistence, Bryan changed his mind. “Well, all right. Congratulations.

You won me over,” he said, coming around to the artist. DON'T MISS..
