Sunday, March 23, 2025 More and more British nationals are increasingly seeking medical and cosmetic procedures in Turkey due to the country’s affordable healthcare options. Clinics in Turkey have been actively engaging in marketing their services, particularly for cosmetic and medical treatments such as hair transplants, dental implants, and IVF. These procedures, which can be prohibitively expensive in the UK, are attracting a growing number of medical tourists.
With the London International Health Tourism Expo being an example of Turkey’s aggressive push into this sector, around 100 Turkish clinics set up booths to showcase their services, bringing attention to the growing trend of seeking cheaper, international alternatives. The Rise of Medical Tourism to Turkey The allure of affordable treatment in Turkey has become undeniable for many British citizens. For example, one 48-year-old British woman of Turkish descent recounted her experience of dental implants in Turkey .
The woman, who had paid approximately £8,000 ($10,350) for a full set of dental implants, compared the price to the £4,000 per tooth cost in the UK. Such significant price differences have made Turkey an attractive option for those who cannot afford local treatments. The UK’s National Statistics Office reported that the number of British citizens seeking medical treatment abroad has skyrocketed from 234,000 in 2021 to 431,000 by 2023, signifying the growing reliance on foreign medical services.
