Virgin Australia has introduced its inaugural Future Aviators program, aiming to inspire and educate young girls about the diverse career opportunities within the aviation industry. This initiative aligns with broader efforts to address gender disparities in aviation and related sectors.Program OverviewThe Future Aviators program welcomed nearly 60 Year 7 and Year 8 students from various schools across South East Queensland, including areas from Bundamba to Miami.
Participants were given exclusive tours of Virgin Australia’s facilities, such as the aircraft maintenance hangar, head office, and training centers, including flight simulators used for pilot training. The program highlights various aviation roles, emphasizing technical positions like engineering and piloting, which are traditionally underrepresented by women.
