Friday, March 21, 2025 Newark International Airport (EWR) in New Jersey became the site of an unusual smuggling attempt when Transportation Security Administration (TSA) agents intercepted a passenger trying to sneak over a dozen live bullets onto a flight. The security personnel uncovered 16 rounds hidden inside a carefully wrapped tube made from aluminum foil, which was stored within the traveler’s hand luggage. According to TSA spokesperson Lisa Farbstein, the bullets were individually wrapped in multiple layers of foil in what appeared to be an attempt to bypass detection by X-ray machines.
The bullets were concealed within a cardboard tube covered in foil, all placed inside an additional aluminum foil box, showcasing a highly meticulous effort to conceal the dangerous items. This incident comes just weeks after another bizarre discovery at Newark Airport. A TSA agent found a live red-eared slider turtle hidden in a passenger’s pants during a routine pat-down.
The passenger had triggered an alert during a body scan, leading to the discovery of the small turtle wrapped in a blue blanket inside his trousers. Fortunately, the turtle appeared unharmed, but the passenger missed his flight and was questioned by Port Authority Police. No details have been released regarding potential criminal charges.
