Air India might be considering a major aircraft order. Sources state that the carrier, which is currently in the middle of an ambitious and large-scale turnaround initiative, might be considering a widebody aircraft order split between European aircraft manufacturer Airbus and its American counterpart Boeing . While Air India refused to address the speculation, this order might play a pivotal role in turning the carrier around.

Once celebrated for its world-class service, in the past decades, the airline's reputation, operations, and financial performance have deteriorated. Now under new ownership, its parent company Tata Group aims to make Air India a competitive player in the industry once again.
