Tourists traveling to Puerto Peñasco, commonly known as Rocky Point, are now required to have the Forma Migratoria Múltiple (FMM) permit, a document that allows foreign visitors entry into Mexico. According to officials from Puerto Peñasco’s tourism department, this requirement has been in place for some time but will now be strictly enforced beginning in May. The move aims to ensure that all foreign nationals entering Mexico comply with immigration regulations, particularly as tourism to the region continues to grow.
FMM Tourist Permit: What It Means for Rocky Point TravelersThe FMM is an official tourist permit that all foreigners must carry when entering Mexico, including those visiting popular destinations like Rocky Point. Previously, travelers were asked for the permit randomly at the border, with authorities choosing when to request the document. However, starting in May, Mexican authorities will be more diligent about enforcing the requirement for all foreign visitors, regardless of the time of year or traffic levels.
As of now, officials have stated that enforcement will not be fully applied during the high-traffic months of March and April, a peak period for tourists visiting the region. During this time, tourists may still cross without being asked for the permit, but they are advised to carry it nonetheless. The full enforcement of the FMM form will begin in May, when visitors should expect to present it when crossing the border.
