Saturday, March 22, 2025 The Riyadh Metro is set to launch on December 1, 2024, ahead of Ramadan 2025, with the goal of improving urban mobility and accessibility for residents during this sacred time. The General Transport Authority of Saudi Arabia has unveiled key details about the metro’s operation, including its schedule, available routes, and fare structure, ensuring a smooth and efficient transportation experience for all. The metro system will feature three distinct lines, each marked by a specific color to aid in navigation.
The blue line, the longest at 38 kilometers, begins at Al-Ali Street and passes through major hubs such as Al-Batha, eventually reaching Al-Khair. The yellow line, measuring 29.5 kilometers, runs along King Khaled Road, offering a direct connection to the international airport.
The purple line, extending 29.7 kilometers, travels through Abdul Rahman bin Auf Road, intersecting key routes such as Sheikh Hassan bin Al-Hussein Road. Ticket pricing for the Riyadh Metro has been designed to offer flexibility, catering to both daily commuters and those needing longer-term options.
The first fare tier allows passengers to travel for a duration of up to two hours at a very affordable price of 4 Saudi Riyals. For those planning longer trips, the second ticket grants access for a full three days at 20 Riyals. A weekly pass is available for 40 Riyals, while a monthly ticket can be purchased for 140 Riyals.
