Wednesday, March 19, 2025 A new, groundbreaking train system could soon transform the way travelers experience Europe, potentially revolutionizing the travel industry on a global scale. The new project, dubbed Starline , seeks to introduce a game-changing tube-style train system that would connect 39 stations across Europe, ensuring that at least one station is present in each country along five main routes. The trains could replace short-haul flights and drastically reduce carbon emissions, bringing about significant shifts in both the environment and the travel industry.

A Future of Sustainability: The Game-Changer for European Travel The project aims to reduce emissions by a staggering 95% by replacing many short-haul flights with high-speed rail. The proposed 22,000 km (13,670 miles) rail network will cut down on air travel, effectively eliminating up to 80% of short-haul flights, marking a major move toward sustainability. The trains are expected to travel 30% faster than traditional rail or car journeys, revolutionizing the way travelers move through Europe.

The core trains are set to travel at speeds of up to 100 miles per hour , with a potential to reach even faster speeds by 2040. One example of the project’s impact is the journey between Helsinki and Berlin , which currently takes a full day by train. The Starline system would slash this travel time to just over three hours.

The same will be true for the Kyiv to Berlin route, offering significant time savings to t.
