Rugby Australia (RA) is set to announce the final ticket release for the highly anticipated Qatar Airways British & Irish Lions Series today, marking the countdown to its first match in Perth, just 100 days away.In addition, RA is excited to confirm the finalized schedule for the Lions’ nine-game tour, which will feature a landmark game against the First Nations & Pasifika XV at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium on Tuesday, July 22.It has also been revealed that Ian Foster, former head coach of the All Blacks, will join the coaching staff of the AUNZ Invitational XV for their match against the Lions in Adelaide on Saturday, July 12.
The Lions’ tour is one of the most eagerly awaited events on the international sports calendar, with early ticket releases for this once-in-a-lifetime, 12-year event already selling out quickly. This final ticket release is the last opportunity for fans to purchase tickets and join the anticipated 500,000 spectators across six cities over six weeks.Among the final ticket offerings is the highly anticipated opening Test between the Wallabies and the Lions at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium on Saturday, July 19.
Last year, the initial ticket allocation sold out in just 60 minutes.The MCG in Melbourne will host the second Test, with the potential to break the record for the largest-ever crowd at a Lions Test, as the iconic venue can accommodate over 100,000 spectators, surpassing the current record of 84,188 at Accor Stadium in 2001.Sydney’s Accor Stadi.
