Saturday, March 22, 2025 Delta Air Lines is set to enhance its Hawaii offerings with a brand-new seasonal nonstop route from Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) to Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport (KOA), launching December 19, 2025. The service will run through March 28, 2026, catering to winter travelers seeking an easy gateway to the Hawaiian Islands. The route will be operated by the Boeing 767-300ER, though some aircraft on the service may not feature the Premium Select recliner cabin, depending on the specific aircraft configuration.

This new route will make Kona the third Hawaiian destination served from Salt Lake City, joining Honolulu (HNL) and Maui (OGG). It also strengthens Delta’s commitment to offering direct connections to Kona, alongside its current services from Los Angeles (LAX) and Seattle-Tacoma (SEA). With growing demand for flights from Salt Lake City, Delta plans to increase its operations by 5% in early 2025, underscoring the city’s rising importance as a hub for leisure travel.

Delta is also gearing up for expanded capacity across several other Hawaii routes for the winter 2025 season, aiming to accommodate the surge in travel demand. These changes include: Atlanta (ATL) to Maui (OGG): Delta will roll out its seasonal A330-300 service earlier than previous years, starting November 6, 2025. Atlanta (ATL) to Honolulu (HNL): The airline will ramp up its offerings, operating twice-daily flights from December 19 through January 5 to mana.
