Avelo Airlines has decided to discontinue three routes, including one that was yet to begin, effective April 28, 2025. The Houston-based airline confirmed on Thursday that the cancellations, driven by low demand, affect both recently launched routes and one that was scheduled to start soon. The first route to be cut is the nonstop service between Hartford’s Bradley International Airport (BDL) and Daytona Beach International Airport (DAB), which began on November 8, 2024.

Despite only a few months of operation, the route did not generate enough demand to remain viable. The second cancellation impacts flights between Lakeland Linder International Airport (LAL) in Florida and Manchester-Boston Regional Airport (MHT) in New Hampshire, which launched in late October 2024. Additionally, Avelo will halt the planned service between Hartford’s BDL and Concord-Padgett Regional Airport (USA) in North Carolina, which was scheduled to start in early April.

Avelo explained that these route cuts are a result of low demand and a strategy to better utilize aircraft with new routes or additional frequencies. This approach is typical for budget carriers, which quickly adjust their schedules in response to customer demand. The Hartford-to-Daytona Beach route cancellation was not entirely unexpected, as Avelo had already reduced several other flights from Hartford in recent months.

The airline reassessed its operations in Connecticut earlier this year and decided to concentrate its domestic focu.
