AEGEAN, the flag carrier of Greece, has ordered eight additional Airbus A321neo aircraft, bringing its total A320neo family aircraft commitments to 58, which includes already-delivered jets. Expanding A321neo fleet On March 14, Airbus and AEGEAN jointly disclosed that the airline ordered eight A321neo aircraft, adding more A320neo family aircraft to its backlog, which, according to the carrier, now grew to 58 committed aircraft. Out of the 58, 34 have already been delivered, with the Greek airline already having taken delivery of one A320neo in 2025.
Airbus should deliver four more A320neo/A321neo aircraft during the year, the carrier said. Furthermore, 37 of the 58 will be the largest variants of the A320neo aircraft family, namely the A321neo, including four A321LR aircraft that offer “significantly extended range and a newly designed passenger cabin, specifically configured to serve flights to new markets of up to 7.5 hours.
” According to ch-aviation data, AEGEAN currently has 20 A320neo and 14 A321neo aircraft in its fleet, with five and six single-aisle jets, respectively, marked inactive. All 34 A320neo family aircraft are powered by the Pratt & Whitney PW1100G engines, also known as the Geared Turbofan (GTF), which have been impacted by the accelerated removals and inspections due to the contaminated powdered metal being used to build the engines. Half of Cyprus Airways fleet will operate flights on behalf of Aegean Airlines.
