Three Olympic swimmers have been chosen to help design a new pool in Brighton. Olympians Rebecca Adlington OBE, Adrian Turner and Steve Parry MBE will consult on the designs of the pool which is to be built at Withdean Sports Complex. Once the designs are complete, these will put to both members of Withdean Sports Complex and the community before a full planning application is submitted early in the summer.

If permission is granted for the project, the work could start early next year. Plans for the new community swimming pool have been developed in response to the council’s Sports Facilities Investment Plan (SFIP) to meet the demand for more swimming facilities in the city.

This follows on from the announcement in January that Alliance Leisure has been appointed to lead the design and build of a new sports and leisure facility to replace the ageing King Alfred Leisure Centre. R.
