There is a bad news for people who are planning a trip to Thailand. You might have to rethink your itinerary as Thailand has reduced its visa-free stay from 60 days to 30 days. Thailand is tightening its policies to curb travelers who have been misusing the waiver for illegal business activities, said Tourism and Sports Minister Surawong Thienthong.

These new restrictions are expected to impact passport holders from 93 countries who previously enjoyed longer stays. As of now, the exact implementation dates for the new policies remain unclear. However, it is said to have the maximum impact on remote workers and retirees.

The policy was agreed upon after The Association of Thai Travel Agents raised concerns about the increasing number of foreigners engaging in illegal work in the country. According to a report by the Bangkok Post, the Thai Hotels Association said the long visa-free period can be partially blamed for the increase in condominium units being illegally rented out to foreign guests. Who Will Be The Worst-impacted?People who are used to the flexibility of being able to live for 60 days - including digital nomads, retirees, or long-term vacationers - will have to bear the brunt of this.

Travelers who are wishing to stay longer would need to apply for a tourist visa in advance. Alternatively, they may have to exit and re-enter the country after 30 days. Best Places To Visit In ThailandThailand includes a series of experiences for every type of traveller.
