New Dayaben on the block?

After years of absence, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’s iconic character Dayaben, the wife of Jethalal Gada (played by Dilip Joshi), may finally have a new face. Asit Modi, the show’s creator, had been conducting auditions and has reportedly shortlisted an actor for the role. We have heard that mock shoots are currently underway.

Asit had previously confirmed that Disha Vakani, the actor who played Dayaben for nine years (2008 to 2017), would not return, saying, “I believe Disha Vakani can’t be back. For women, life changes after marriage.” Reports also suggest that there might be some changes made to the storyline to include the new actor playing Daya.
