A senior Dyfed-Powys Police officer is facing a misconduct hearing over allegations of inappropriate behaviour towards female colleagues. Superintendent Gary Davies is accused of a series of incidents involving female colleagues, including allegedly touching two women without their consent during a Christmas gathering in December 2017. He also allegedly sent messages to a female colleague between 2018 and 2020, asking her to run away with him despite being told his behaviour was inappropriate.
Further allegations state Supt Davies acted in ways that excluded women in the workplace. This reportedly included participating in a male-only WhatsApp group, excluding women from meetings, dismissing their opinions, assigning them tasks below their expertise, and favouring men in work recognition. Supt Davies is also accused of making inappropriate comments about female colleagues, including likening them to luxury cars.
In another incident, he allegedly made sexually inappropriate comments about female colleagues in front of another woman. If the allegations are proven, Supt Davies' conduct would be considered a breach of the Professional Standards of Behaviour relating to authority, respect and courtesy, equality and diversity, and discreditable conduct. The public misconduct hearing is scheduled to take place at Dyfed-Powys Police Headquarters in Llangunnor, Carmarthen, starting on March 24 and running until April 11.
The hearing will begin at 10am. Members of the public wishing to.
