WATERLOO — The American Heart Association's school-based program awarded $605 to Lowell Elementary School for recess equipment. The Kids Heart Challenge and American Heart Challenge supports schools by funding resources to extend school wellness initiatives. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, less than 24% of children aged 6 to 17 get the recommended amount of physical activity each day.
The new equipment will provide opportunities for students to get active during the day.
