S. Route 1, Suite 107 — the 3,800-square-foot space is a little larger than Sapporo’s previous home at 230 Commercial St. The new venue offers free parking and can accommodate up to 90 customers inside — including a 10-seat sushi bar — and an additional 45-50 on the outside patio in season.
Sapporo will now also feature a six-seat full bar serving beer, wine and cocktails, which they didn’t have in Portland. Co-owner Megumi Hatanaka said the menu remains mostly the same, though they’ve had to increase prices between 10% and 20% to offset inflation, increased labor costs and the expense of the buildout and lease at the new venue. Hatanaka said the interior design of the new location features a navy color scheme accented by maple wood and bamboo pendant lights, along with watercolor-style Japanese mountain-scape wallpaper.
For customers’ convenience, Hatanaka said Sapporo will no longer close between lunch and dinner services. Sapporo will be open Monday through Thursday from 11:30 a.m.
to 8:30 p.m., Friday from 11:30 a.
m. to 9 p.m.
and Saturday from noon to 9 p.m. We believe it’s important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers.
