Starting on April 4, 2025, American Airlines (AA) will introduce a new dual-class CRJ700 aircraft between Chicago O’Hare International Airport and Dayton International Airport. This significant upgrade will mark the first-ever introduction of first class service on the route, a notable enhancement for passengers flying between these two cities. The new aircraft will provide a broader range of seating options, including an expanded first-class section, which will offer travelers greater comfort and more premium amenities.
First Class for the First Time? This route has been served by Air Wisconsin’s CRJ200s for quite some time, under the American Eagle brand, according to aviation analytics data from Cirium. However, Air Wisconsin has announced that it will end its long-standing partnership with American Airlines. This change comes after Air Wisconsin also began flying a few routes using Piedmont Airlines’ ERJ145s over the past year.
Historically, the CRJ200s have accommodated 50 seats in the main cabin, while the ERJ145s offer the same capacity but with three additional seats in the main cabin extra. Now, the CRJ700, operated by SkyWest Airlines, will replace the CRJ200 on this route starting April 4, 2025. This aircraft will feature nine seats in first class and 56 seats in the main cabin, with 12 of those seats in main cabin extra.
Passengers can expect two daily flights, Flight 6438 and Flight 4967, both departing from Chicago O’Hare at 10:09 and 19:10, respectively. T.
