A VILLAGER has been forced to remove dozens of dog poo bags which were "hanging like fairy lights" on hedges. More than 50 dog poo bags were spotted strewn about in bushes near the Backwaters at Kirby-le-Soken. Angela Benstead, director of the Ship pub in the village, often walks her Labradors, Stoner and Bailey, around the area.

She said: "What is the point of bagging up a poo and throwing it on the hedge? "The issue I've got is that we have such beautiful walks around here and there is so much wildlife. "It's just not pleasant for people walking through, with bags decorating the hedges.

"I can't get all of the bags because they're right near the back. I will need to go back with a stick to get them. Hedge - another part of the hedge with litter (Image: Angela Benstead) There have been multiple reports about the amount of discarded dog poo bags in the area.

Kirby Cross councillor Andrea Cossens said: "I've seen the dog bags hanging like fairy lights in the tree at the park. "I think its an absolute disgrace and I think dog owners should be more respectful of the Backwaters, which as we know is an area of scientific value to us with the birds and beautiful wildlife we have there. "Dog owners should take it home with them and put it in their black bins in.
