News Hub Creator 23h The Asantehene, Otumfour Osei Tutu II, has reinstated the former Queen of Mpasaaso No. 2, years after she was removed by the now-destooled chief, Nana Amofa Twumasi II. Her return to the position was announced following Nana Twumasi’s destoolment for perjury during a Kumasi Traditional Council meeting.

The Queen had been deposed during the reign of the late Asantehene Opoku Ware II, and since her removal, the female stool of Mpasaaso No. 2 had remained unfilled. Nana Twumasi had claimed that the Queen was removed due to severe insubordination and disrespect.

He also stated that attempts to install a new queen were thwarted when a young man invoked the Great Oath against him, resulting in the prolonged vacancy of the position. However, Otumfour Osei Tutu II clarified that the Queen’s removal stemmed from her questioning of Nana Twumasi’s legitimacy, as he was not of royal descent. The King affirmed that her concerns were valid, especially since the now-destooled chief had been found guilty of perjury.

With the Queen’s reinstatement, Otumfour Osei Tutu II has given her the responsibility of ensuring that the traditional procedures for selecting a new male chief for Mpasaaso No. 2 are properly followed. This decision represents a significant moment in the town’s chieftaincy matters, as it aims to restore traditional leadership structures after years of conflict.
