Sir Andy Murray and his wife Kim's luxury hotel, Cromlix Hotel, has reported another significant loss for the latest financial year. However, figures indicate an improvement from previous years. According to CityAM, the business recorded a loss of £369,045 for the year ending March 2024.
This is a substantial loss but represents an improvement on figures for the previous year, which stood at a whopping £919,572. The five-star hotel last made a profit back in 2022 when it was up £416,442 for the year. The two-time Wimbledon champion bought the 15-room estate back in 2013, shelling out nearly £2m.
Alongside his wife Kim, he recently oversaw the launch of the hotel's own brand of gin, created with ingredients found in the grounds of the hotel. The pair teamed up with craft gin maker Wildfire Gin to create Cromlix Gin, which includes raspberry leaf and milk thistle from the hotel garden, and is made with water from a borehole in the grounds. Murray's brother Jamie got married at the venue, while his grandparents also celebrated their wedding anniversaries there, reports the Irish Mirror .
The hotel, which sits in 34 acres of private grounds and woodland, has 10 bedrooms, five suites and a one-bedroom lodge, as well as its own private chapel, tennis court, pickleball court and a restaurant run by an award-winning chef. Room prices tend to range from between £350 to £950 per night according to KAYAK. Kim previously opened up about the challenges of managing the hotel, stating.
