A new chocolate shop on the Busselton foreshore is set to open in time for April school holidays. Little Otto’s Big Choc Shop received the green light from the Department of Health on Monday and has since been testing recipes for their made in house chocolate, including chocolate covered lolly snakes as well as its own milk, white and dark chocolate bars and honeycomb. Constructed by the brains behind Shelter Brewing Co idea came from the team’s own family history, head of marketing Tom Jockel said.
“We all have kids aged between one and 15,” he said. “We wanted it to be like a Pixar movie — aimed at kids but there’s also some jokes in there for the parents to appreciate that that kids wouldn’t understand. “Everything is brightly coloured and chaotic.
We wanted to keep it fun.” He said the choc shop would be the first one of its kind in Busselton with Margaret River being the South West’s only other major chocolatier. An attached dairy bar for ice-cream, coffee and milkshakes called Daisy’s will also be open.
“There’s a need for something like this here in Busselton,” Mr Jockel said. “There isn’t anything like it. There’s the chocolate factory in Margaret River, Simmo’s for ice-cream, but here we’d have it all.
“The idea is families can come and buy their treats, get a coffee or gelato and take it to the park, playground or beach to eat it.” “The story of Otto is that he was a beached whale in Busselton in 1897. He was found by Da.
