By Steven Ngati When my wife, Breanna, and I moved to North Arlington in 2021, there was a lot of transition. I moved to Austin from Washington, D.C.

, where I grew up, when I was 23. There, I started working for Dell and met my wife. When we decided we wanted to move, we knew Arlington would be an ideal place to settle down because of its proximity to our families.



I recently lost my mother to cancer. But before COVID-19, our plan was to move her with us to Texas. My cousins live here, too.

Breanna’s side of the family also lives here. She grew up here and went to Arlington High School. We figured that when we have children, we want them to grow up in a place where they’re close to their extended families.

When looking at homes, we realized not only Arlington’s proximity to our relatives, but also to traveling ease and social gatherings, was perfect. One of the biggest points our Realtor reiterated when looking for homes was: location, location, location. Here, I definitely feel like we scored.

Breanna and I both travel constantly for work and are always in and out of the house. A big part of why we were drawn to North Arlington is its short 15-minute proximity to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport. We were also attracted to the area for its social aspect.

We came from living in a very lively, happy neighborhood in downtown Austin with its tons of bars and social activities. When moving, we didn’t want to be in the suburbs separated from all the action, having to.
