INDIANAPOLIS — Community leaders gathered Tuesday to beautify a creek on the southeast side of Indianapolis. Volunteers, community members and local organizations worked to clear up litter along Pleasant Run as part of an initiative ahead of Earth Day weekend to clean up one of the largest waterways in the city. The goal is to restore over five miles of land from Emhardt Park, at Southern and Capitol avenues, north to Christian Park, on English Avenue near South Sherman Drive.

Mayor Joe Hogsett praised the volunteers for their hard work in helping keep the community clean. "By participating in the Pleasant Run cleanup this week, you're not only helping our environment, you're also improving the lives of all neighbors in this community," Hogsett said. Tuesday's event is just the beginning of efforts to clean up the community this week.

Keep Indianapolis Beautiful will hold eight more cleanup events along Pleasant Run on Saturday. Click here for more information and to sign up to help..
