I always find it interesting to attend the North Island Outdoor Adventure Show held by the Strathcona Regional District at Strathcona Gardens (on April 12 and 13). I decided to attend the show on the Sunday. With the construction in front, I was lucky to find a parking spot right in front of the doors at the arena entrance.
My prime interest is fishing, and the exhibitors get a chance to talk to the public and display their products to those who attend. It's all there to walk around and talk to the people who are there to promote outdoor activities here in Campbell River and around the Island. There is more to Campbell River than fishing, and it's all on display.
In this world of the internet and websites, I get a chance to talk to the exhibitors face-to-face, and I get to know about their operation and relay the information to friends here in Campbell River and readers of the Fishing Corner each week. Exhibitors include those who operate fly fishing shops and local lodgings, and I get to understand their operations in hospitality, boat building and recreational sport fishing. Damion and his wife are busy building fishing plugs made here in Campbell River, and they are expanding their plugs to be used for trout fishing on local lakes.
The Tyee Club had a booth with valuable information about the club, Greg Askey is a well-known angler and was on hand to answer any questions I had about the club's operation, I am hoping to get out with a rower this year and just spend a few ho.
