The current spell of sunny weather has been good news for St Albans’ newest floral visitor attraction. Tulleys Tulip Fields, featuring more than 500,000 tulip bulbs, are bursting into bloom with the arrival of the spring sunshine. As a result, organisers have brought forward the opening date to Friday, April 11.

The attraction has more than 100 different varieties of tulip for visitors to see on fields adjacent to Willows Activity Farm, in Coursers Road, London Colney. The site was originally due to open on Saturday, April 5 but this was put back a week to April 12 to give the tulips a little extra time to burst into full bloom. However, the new opening date is Friday, April 11.

Stuart Beare is owner of Tulleys Farm, who operate Tulleys Tulip Fest, the UK’s number one tulip festival which is bringing Tulleys Tulip Fields to St Albans. He said: “This lovely warm and sunny weather has given the bulbs the final push we needed, and the fields are now bursting with colour. “We couldn’t keep them to ourselves any longer, so we’ve now brought forward our opening to Friday 11th April, a day earlier than planned.

” Visitors will be treated to an ever-changing landscape as tulips bloom in waves throughout the season. From the earliest varieties to the late bloomers, the fields will shift in colour, shape, and beauty throughout the event. Stuart added: “The tulip fields are extremely dynamic as the rows of mixed varieties ensure that the fields look fabulous from start to.
