Diego Dinelli was celebrating the end of term with his mates from McKinnon Secondary College when he was hit by a ute and killed while crossing Tucker Road in Bentleigh, south-east Melbourne , at 9.30pm on July 4.

The ute came to a stop shortly after on Huntington Road, according to Victoria Police, who interviewed the driver. Police told Daily Mail Australia there were no further updates on the fatal incident. The 16-year-old's mother, Teresa Svoronos, said on social media that her life changed in a 'split second' after her son was killed.



'You laughed, you smiled, you left the barbeque and in a split second, everything shattered,' she said. 'You were simply doing what any happy, carefree 16-year-old should be doing – celebrating the end of term with your beloved mates.' 'How can this be?
