Elon Musk has been advised to keep quiet and avoid antagonising Donald Trump admitting on X – the social media platform he owns – that he “went too far” criticising the US President last week. The tech billionaire unleashed a stream of highly antagonistic posts after becoming infuriated by Mr Trump’s “big, beautiful bill”, which he claimed would increase public spending by $3trillion. Among remarks likely to have angered Mr Trump was Mr Musk’s claim to have won the US Presidential election for him, and a post in which he said the New Yorker’s name appears in the unreleased Jeffrey Epstein files – which he subsequently deleted.
Mr Trump responded by suggesting Mr Musk had “lost his mind” and the erstwhile bromance appeared to be well and truly over. However, on Wednesday the former Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) supremo commented: "I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week. They went too far.
” Mr Trump is yet to respond publicly – but there seems little prospect of Mr Musk being invited to a military parade to mark the 250th anniversary of the foundation of the US Army on Saturday – which also happens to be Mr Trump’s 79th birthday. And Alex Adamo, CEO of The Commercialiser, a leading negotiation advisory firm Comments, said the Tesla chief would do well to tread carefully. He stressed: “Musk’s recent backtrack should be seen not as capitulation but as calculated de-escalation.
"Confronting a negotiator.
