Colchester Zoo has announced the birth of another new arrival, another coppery titi monkey. The coppery titi monkey pair Copper and Lewis have expanded their family following the birth of their second offspring since being at the zoo. The Animal Care Team are pleased to say that both mum and dad have been very attentive and are doing a great job of taking care of their newest infant which was born on March 18, 2025.

The baby will cling to dad, Lewis, for around 4 to 5 months before becoming independent. The zoo are said to be so pleased for the coppery titi monkey family and are sure that brother, Benji, will enjoy playing with his new sibling as it grows up. Dad, Lewis, was born at Colchester Zoological Society in August 2020 and his parents, the infant's grandparents, now live at rainforest walkthrough. Mum, Copper, arrived at the Zoo in January 2024 from Belfast Zoo and now lives with her family group at worlds apart.
This new arrival is great news for the conservation of coppery titi monkeys. Although this species is currently classed as ‘Least Concern’ on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, they are often killed for bush meat, caught for the pet trade, or hunted by predators. Their tails a.
