Canada’s federal election campaign is heating up, with election day less than two weeks away on April 28. Recent polling shows the gap has also narrowed between the Mark Carney’s Liberals and Pierre Poilievre’s Conservatives. An released April 14 shows a previous double-digit Liberal lead has softened to six per cent.

The poll pegged Liberal support nationally at 45 per cent, compared to 39 per cent for the Conservatives and seven per cent for the New Democratic Party. The poll was conducted through an online survey from April 10 to 13, among a randomized sample of 2,216 Canadian adults. For comparison purposes, a probability sample of this size would carry a margin of error of plus or minus two percentage points, 19 times out of 20, the pollster said.
