A mong the jewellery cognoscenti only a handful of jeweller’s names are mentioned in hushed, reverential tones, such is the desirability of their work. Bhagat, founded by the Mumbai-born and based Viren Bhagat, is one of them. It’s easy to argue that his jewels are beyond compare in design, materials and execution.

His style sits at the intersection between east and west, mixing Indian references and motifs with European refinement, perfectionist craftsmanship and the best, most exceptional gemstones. His output is tiny — only 50 pieces a year of museum-quality work — and they are snapped up by collectors and loyal clients alike. “Once someone acquires one of my pieces they always come back for more,” he says with a smile.
