Peter Andre's romance with Emily MacDonagh is straight out of a fairytale, sparked by an unexpected twist of fate nearly 15 years ago when Peter's health scare led him to the operating table. The pop star was set to entertain at Plymouth Pavilions but found himself in dire straits, rushed to hospital with excruciating kidney stone pains. It was there in Taunton that Dr Ruaraidh MacDonagh, a urologist consultant, came to his aid.
In gratitude, Peter offered Dr MacDonagh two tickets to his Plymouth performance. However, Dr MacDonagh was unable to attend, so instead, his wife and their 20 year old daughter Emily, who was studying medicine at the time, went along, unknowingly setting the stage for their future together. Reflecting on the serendipitous events, Peter once recounted: "It's the most bizarre thing.
I had to have an emergency operation on a kidney in Taunton. I wasn't even in the area but I was transferred there and the on-call consultant was Emily's dad.", as reports .
Post-surgery, Peter struck up a friendship with Dr MacDonagh. "I was so grateful that I said, 'if there's anything I can ever do..
.'. I later got him a couple of tickets for the Plymouth show, but he couldn't make it so his wife Rebecca came along with their daughter, Emily.
"We had a bit of a laugh and I thought, 'oh they're really nice people'. As time went on, Emily and I realised we had feelings for each other and two years after meeting at Plymouth Pavilions we were married." The couple tied the kn.
