A person with severe haemophilia faces unique challenges such as high costs of treatment, the need for regular injections and a lack of understanding in society. Know tips to cope up condition New Delhi: India is home to the second largest group of patients living with haemophilia, with over 1.3 lakh cases being reported.

Hemophilia is a blood disorder in which the blood does not clot properly. As per reports, in almost two-thirds of the patients with haemophilia, there is a family history involved with the disease. In the rest of them, there isn’t a family history, the disorder is just due to a spontaneous mutation.

Medical Management: This is of course easier said than done given the high cost but for those with access to medications, it is important to remain compliant at all times to avoid bleeds.

Irregular treatment and repeated bleeds are important causes for the development of inhibitors and disabling joint problems. 2. Avoiding traumatic bleeds: One must wear protective gear during physical activities such as cycling, use soft-bristled toothbrushes and avoid contact sports.
