Pune: The Warje police on Wednesday detained two boys, aged 17, and launched search for their major aide in connection with the firing of three rounds in the air at Bhimshakti Chowk in Ramnagar around 10.45pm on Tuesday. No one was injured in the firing, which occurred hours after the voting concluded in the Baramati Lok Sabha constituency.

At the time, police teams were busy packing the EVMs in the area. “We suspect the third accomplice wanted to establish his dominance in the area. We have established his identity,” an officer involved in the investigation said.



Senior inspector Manoj Shedge of the Warje police said, “One of the detained boys was previously booked in a murder case. The firearm used in the crime is with the third suspect, who is yet to be arrested. Their identities were established with the help of area residents and CCTV footage.
