Thursday, May 9, 2024 In 2023, TAP’s Portugal Stopover program was utilized by 214,000 tourists who opted for a complimentary stopover of one to ten days in Lisbon or Oporto during their international travel, enriching their journey with a visit to Portugal. Nearly half of the passengers participating in the Stopover program in 2023 purchased their tickets in Brazil, while 20 percent did so in the United States. The majority of Stopover customers initiated their travel from São Paulo, followed by Rio de Janeiro, Recife, and New York.

Brazilian passengers favored Paris, Rome, and Madrid as their ultimate destinations after using the TAP Stopover. For American travelers, the most chosen final destinations were Barcelona, Madrid, and Rome, with Funchal and Ponta Delgada also ranking among the top ten. The Portugal Stopover program offers TAP customers the opportunity to visit two destinations for the price of one, by incorporating a stopover in Lisbon or Porto during either the outbound or return leg of their trip.



Additionally, TAP provides a chance for a second stopover in Portugal within the same travel period, offering a 25 percent discount on domestic flights, thus enabling visitors to explore other Portuguese regions like the Azores or Madeira during their stopover.
