Tuesday, October 15, 2024 With the support of Google.org, SPARK has launched an ambitious tourism initiative in the MENA region, beginning in Saudi Arabia. The “Maharat for Tourism” program aims to train 25,000 individuals across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region by 2025, focusing on equipping participants with advanced digital tools, artificial intelligence (AI) skills, and essential soft skills to help shape a sustainable, innovative, and diverse tourism sector.
The initiative was kicked off with an event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where over 100 attendees, including government officials, entrepreneurs, and job seekers, gathered to learn about the transformative potential of this program. For tourists and travelers, the introduction of the Maharat for Tourism program promises significant changes in the way tourism services are developed and offered in the MENA region. By fostering new skills and capabilities among tourism professionals, the program aims to enhance the quality of experiences for tourists, making the region more attractive for international travelers.
The Maharat for Tourism program, spearheaded by SPARK in collaboration with Google.org, is designed to support and revolutionize the tourism industry in the MENA region. Tourists visiting countries like Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar in the coming years will benefit from an improved tourism infrastructure and services.
The program emphasizes the adoption of AI and digital.
