Ludhiana: In an embarrassment for Ludhiana municipal corporation (MC), the officials of public works department (PWD) altogether missed a review meeting on Wednesday during which they had to tell commissioner Sandeep Rishi about the status of three infrastructure projects pending since 2021. Rishi had asked PWD officials to submit the status of the three minor projects — construction of a classroom at two govt schools and a sports hall in another — during the meeting. However, no one from the department turned up for the meeting.

The projects have slotted under Ludhiana Smart City Mission. The commissioner is said to have expressed strong displeasure to senior PWD officials. Under Ludhiana Smart City Mission , the MC had planned to build a classroom each at Govt Primary School, Ward V, and Govt Senior Secondary School, Subhash Nagar.

The sports hall was planned for Govt School, Dairy Complex, Tajpur Road. The projects were given to PWD in 2021 and an amount of Rs 3.25 crore was also allotted for these works.

MC superintending engineer Sanjay Kanwar said PWD officials did not participate in review meetings from time to time. tnn We also published the following articles recently Residents oppose PWDs 4-lane road through Gorewada forests Nagpur citizens urge PWD to reconsider misguided Rs400 crore flyover plan, prioritize Gorewada stretch over Gittikhadan-Katol Road.
