Vadodara: A man died of electrocution after his T-shirt touched the high-tension wire above the railway track as she climbed the tanker which also exploded and caught fire. The incident occurred on the railway tracks near Pandya Bridge on Wednesday. According to the police, an unidentified man climbed on one of the tankers of a goods train at about 6.

30am. The train with tankers filled with fuel was on way from Rajkot to Jalgaon. “The train guard spotted the man and immediately signalled the driver to stop the train,” said Saroj Kumari, superintendent of police, western railways, Vadodara.

The man then opened the lid of the wagon, took out his T-shirt and dipped it in the fuel. He then began waving the T-shirt to the guard but the cloth came in contact with the high-tension wire above. The man got electrocuted and thrown off the tanker.

The electrocution sparked fire on the tanker’s outer part. The fire brigade was called immediately and douseed the flames. The police said that the man, whose body was completely burnt, is yet to be identified.

It is believed that he may be staying in the neighbourhood and he got on the wagon for fun. “It could have led to a major disaster as the wagons were full of fuel but the fire brigade intervened swiftly,” Kumari added.
