It’s the battle of the form teams and current top-two, with the Brazilians fresh from annexing the title in dominant fashion against bitter rivals Kaizer Chiefs in midweek. Sundowns are yet to lose in domestic competitions this season and this strong run stretch back to October in the Carling Knockout last 16 to TS Galaxy. The Maroons have to go all the way back to last September for the last time a defeat came their way which ironically happened to be against Masandawana.

Ever since, it’s been the Winelands boys with the momentum on all fronts and have seen them surpass the challengers of Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates for second spot. Like Sundowns, the Maroons did take the field during the week and cruised past Golden Arrows 3-0 to continue hunting second-place. Steve Barker’s men stunned the Brazilians last season in the quarter-finals of this cup, and will aim to repeat the same fate.
