The doctors have demanded an action within 24 hours. Published: August 10, 2024 3:33 PM IST By Edited by The Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA) has written a letter to Union Health Minister JP Nadda on Saturday, 10 August 2024 regarding the incident that occurred at RG Kar Medical College where a semi-nude body of a woman post-graduate trainee (PGT) doctor was found inside the seminar hall of the hospital in Kolkata on Friday, August 9. The doctors have said if action is not taken within 24 hours they will escalate action including shutdown of services.

Meanwhile, Suvendu Adhikari, the Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader on Friday demanded a CBI inquiry into the death of a 31-year-old postgraduate trainee doctor. He also asked student communities to protest against the state government’s laidback response. “Unconfirmed reports suggest signs of strangulation and traces of seminal fluid.



This appears to be a clear case of murder, possibly involving rape. The case should be immediately transferred to the CBI,” he said. “Instead of addressing the issue seriously, the State Government has formed an 11-member inquiry committee, which bizarrely includes some interns.

It seems the government is either trying to cover up its negligence or is not taking this matter seriously. “I urge the student community, especially medical students, to protest vigorously against the State Government’s com.
