Thursday, May 9, 2024 In a landmark decision, Hong Kong is set to host the 2025 Routes World Conference, uniting global aviation leaders and shaping the future of air travel. Hong Kong has been selected to host the 2025 Routes World conference, set for September 24-26 at AsiaWorld-Expo, facilitated by Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) with support from the Hong Kong Tourism Board. This pivotal event connects global leaders from the aviation sector, including airline executives, airport authorities, and destination representatives.

The 30th iteration of Routes World is poised to draw key network planning executives from over 260 prominent and rapidly expanding airlines. Hosting Routes World is significantly beneficial economically, with a typical event generating an economic impact exceeding $590 million. This boost primarily comes from the establishment of new air routes facilitated by the event’s high visibility.



In 2024, HKIA experienced notable growth, handling 4.36 million passengers and 29,840 flight movements in March alone, marking increases of 56.7% and 48.

2% respectively, compared to the previous year. Anticipating the completion of its Three-runway System (3RS) by year’s end, HKIA is strategically planning to enhance its global connectivity. This includes targeting new markets in the Greater Bay Area, Mainland China, countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, and the Middle East, following the 3RS completion which will increase the airport’s capa.
