Lucknow: A second-year BTech student , hailing from Varanasi, has alleged sexual harassment by a stalker in Gosaiganj. The student is currently pursuing her studies at an engineering institute in the city. The accused, identified as Sumit Yadav from Mau, has allegedly been stalking her for the past three months.
According to the girl’s complaint, Sumit, who resides in Lucknow, has, on multiple occasions, harassed her by sprinkling water, making lewd comments, and attempting to approach her. She further alleges that Sumit has been spreading rumours about her, linking her to her seniors and classmates. He has also made calls to both her and her family’s phone numbers.
“For the last three months, he has been constantly harassing me. It has become exceedingly difficult to focus on my studies due to the mental distress caused by his actions,” she added. The victim girl added that the mental strain she is enduring has become unbearable.
“Now, he is threatening to send obscene photos of me to my parents, to whom he has persistently sent messages and made calls inquiring about me,” she added. Assistant DCP Shashank Singh, said that an FIR has been lodged, and efforts are underway to locate the accused.
