Joe Tate is seriously ill on Emmerdale - leading to a potential exit for actor Ned Porteous. The half-brother of Joe Tate made his return at Christmas and has since been acting rather suspicious. We soon discovered that Joe was very ill, but we have yet to find out exactly what is wrong with him.

Now, actor Ned Porteous has discussed his future in Emmerdale amid the dramatic storyline, with fans convinced he could die from whatever his illness is, leading to an exit for fan favourite Ned. Ned also played Mark Fowler Jnr in EastEnders and after a special mention over the 40th anniversary, he discussed a potential return to EastEnders. He told Inside Soap: "I might be going back to EastEnders then! iI was the first soap I did and I remember it very fondly, going on set with all those people I’d watched for years and years.



" Asked if that meant he could leave Emmerdale, he said: "I don't even know what I want to do next week so that far ahead is a bit of a mystery. I'm very happy where I am now. I have great stories and a lot to do an an actor, I’m not about to jump ship any time soon.

" Joe is currently having an affair with Dawn, but has ruled out Joe actually having feelings for Dawn. "I'd like to be able to give you an answer on this one! I'm not sure that Joe is capable of true love as that involves an immense vulnerability and Joe is such a control freak that, even if he did have feelings, he'd still find a way to turn it to his advantage. I think he's a bit of a sociop.
