An iconic name in the fashion industry is changing roles as Donatella Versace, of the acclaimed Italian brand also bearing her surname, is ending her time as the brand's creative director.The BBC reports that Donatella will be stepping down from her role after holding it for almost 30 years. Donatella became Versace's creative director in 1997, after her brother Gianni Versace was murdered in Miami, Florida.
The fashion house's new creative director will be Dario Vitale, who was previously at French fashion brand Miu Miu as a design director. He has also previously worked at Bottega Veneta and has worked under the creative stewardship of Miuccia Prada.On her Instagram account, Donatella wrote that she was “thrilled” that Dario would be joining Versace and shared that it was “the greatest honor” to carry on the legacy of her brother Gianni.
She ended the caption by saying that she will remain “Vesace's most passionate supporter” and that the name is in her DNA and always in her heart.
