Vadodara: Three women were targeted by chain snatchers within an hour in the city on Wednesday morning. The accused on a motorbike , snatched gold chains of the women and disappeared from the spot. The police have registered complaints in the three incidents and begun investigations.

A 65-year-old woman staying in Dandia Bazaar area was one of the first victims of the chain snatchers when she was out for a walk on Wednesday at about 6.40 am. Pratima Puranik was walking with her acquaintances on the Rajmahal Road when the accused came from behind on a bike and snatched her gold chain worth Rs 36,000.



Puranik fell on the road and sustained injuries. Another woman walking on the Nizampura Road also became a victim of the chain snatchers between 6 am and 7 am. Sandip Amin told the Fatehgunj police that the accused snatched his mother’s gold chain worth Rs 25,000.

The chain snatchers then targeted Swetal Macwan near the EME Road at about 6.30 and snatched her gold chain worth Rs 15,000. The police said that they are scanning CCTV footage of these areas to track down the motorbike used in the crimes.
